Do you want to do something creative with your photos or videos but are convinced it’s too difficult? There is help at hand, as threecubes Slideshow HD is designed with all users in mind, whether you’re a slideshow expert or only have the most basic skills.

Excellent effects

The first step with threecubes Slideshow HD is to choose your default values (including how long each slide stays on screen and the length of each transition), which apply across all new slideshows you create. If you’re a casual user, you don’t have to make any adjustments. Next you’ll want to upload some photos, which you can drag onto the timeline at the bottom of the screen or add via the green icons.

threecubes Slideshow HD automatically assigns image and transition effects to each picture you uploaded so if you want to fully customize your slideshow, you will need to remember to change each one. There are also loads of cool effects you can apply to your photos through the filter sub menu (old movie, noise and sphere were my favorites), as well as choose the positioning of your image in the camera sub menu. The transition effects are pretty neat as well.

Within this program, there is also the option to add text and symbols to each slide in a variety of fonts and styles with extra options for shadow, blur, position on the slide and direction. And, to make your slideshow even more fun, you can add audio (with options to alter the volume and cut the track) and video as well.

Once you’ve done all that, it’s one click to export where you can chose your resolution, recording format and more, as well as chose to upload it to YouTube or Facebook. The slideshows can also be displayed in HD or 4K.

Surprisingly simple

The interface of threecubes Slideshow HD looks slick and the fact that you can resize the different elements -making each one bigger or smaller depending on what you’re working on- is a plus. The main menu of icons is very clear and well-organized, but the other menus could be simplified and I didn’t see the sub menus at first as they are in tiny typeface.

To apply any of the effects you can either drag them onto your photos at the bottom of the screen (all effects are in the Tools menu) or click on the Media menu and edit each image individually. This is where things got a little confusing and complicated: I was expecting there to be different features in the Media menu, but it was the same just organized in a different way, which seemed like duplication of content. This isn’t a major drawback, more something you have to get used to because threecubes Slideshow HD is surprisingly easy to use given the high-quality slideshows you can produce with the program.

But if you are unsure about anything then the Wizard (either found in the on screen tool bar) can guide you through each of the steps. It would be helpful if you were given the option to start with the Wizard opened rather than having to manually select it.

Super slideshows

The beauty of threecubes Slideshow HD is that it is packed with features to help you completely customize your slideshow and produce very professional looking results, but there isn’t a massive learning curve. With an intuitive and clear user interface, it’s easy to understand and pick up so, even if you’ve never created a slideshow before, you’ll soon be able to do it with ease.
